A RoboRally-themed game of Loveletter. Borne out of playing board
games in FigmaOn occasion someone asks, why Figma? Why not X platform
better suited towards playing board games online with a group of
friends? The answer, simply, is that it’s more fun, more chaotic, and
generally has a better sense of presence of being in the same space
together.
all through the pandemic. If we wanted to play a game,
we’d first have to replicate the cards and pieces for us to play
digitally. Slowly we built out a set of games we enjoyed playing
together: codenames, catan, bananagrams, robots assist profanity, and
finally, RoboRally. It took maybe thirty minutes just setting up all the
cards and board for the game, and when we had it all, we paused. Why not
a quick game of Loveletter before jumping into RoboRally?
There, Roboletter was born. Realizing that the eight robots correspond nicely with the eight numbered cards of Loveletter (with Twonky as the princess, obviously) we set to work.
In August 2025, I took our roughly-designed deck from figma and sent it to print. Awaiting delivery.
